VIRGIN BLOGGER!

So here it is. My first blog. I've so much to write about. The difficulty is finding where to start. So i'll go back to basics.
Firstly, "about me". My name is Mandy, and i have been a midwife for almost 20 years. I am also a mother of 3 grown-up boys - now men.
It was after my third son was born that I had a dream to become a midwife. I voiced this dream to my community midwife who encouraged me to seriously look into the possibility. She reinforced all my hopes by informing me of the wonderful enjoyment that the "job" had given her over the years. This dream was firmly planted in my mind, and when my youngest son was 3 years old, I applied and was accepted to do my midwifery training. However I managed to successfully complete my training, with 3 young children under the age of 7, is still a mystery to me as it was no easy task.
I now work on a busy maternity unit as a labour ward coordinator. The shifts are busy  and very challenging on so many levels but extremely satisfying  and fullfilling. I feel privileged to be part of the birth process and remain passionate about the job I do. I share up to date and research based advice on a daily level and it is this that I would like to share with all my readers.
I intend to blog about everything midwifery linked, and although I have hundreds of topics I would like to cover, I am also happy to be led by you. So if you have any burning questions or new research that you would like to know more about, then drop me a line and I'll be happy to assist in any way possible.
My partner Ian and I, are also embarking on a new online business supplying innovative baby accessories, so from time to time, if I think there is a product that has any specific benefits, I will provide information and links to those products for anyone that should wish to purchase or review.
There are numerous topics that I intend to blog about including ;
  • Analgesia in labour.
  • What foods to avoid in pregnancy.
  • Waterbirths
  • Breastfeeding.
  • Bottlefeeding.
  • Optimum positions in labour to mention just a few.
So if there is any other subject that you would like me to cover, be sure to let me know and I'll do my best to provide the most up to date information.
So heres till next time.
Best wishes.
Mandy.
